I don't think your generalization is accurate. Women are very different from one to the other. As a man, I've found it to be actually quite the opposite, in my experiences. I think a long beard is perhaps not so in fashion, but a rough, day or two old beard, seems to attract women.

i find facial hair sexy hot ( as long as its under half an inch long ) and you have to be older, like mid 20's.

My husband has facial hair and i like it more than when he's clean shaven. It's a matter of personal taste; don't make such broad generalizations.

I Like facial hair neatly trimmed. When my husband shaves off all of his hair he looks STRANGE. Yet my brother has a "baby face" and that works VERY well for him. I guess it all depends on what the actual face looks like.
